Some Fords to play with...
83-88 Mercury Cougar XR7 - 2.3 I4 Turbo, RWD, 5sp or Auto
83-88 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe - I4 Turbo, RWD, 5sp or auto
89-90 Mercury Cougar XR7 - 3.8L V6 Supercharged, RWD, 5sp or auto
89-95 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe - 3.8L V6 Supercharged, RWD, 5sp or Auto
And can't forget that SVO Mustang. 84-86. 1985-1/2 was the fastest year. I4 2.3L SOHC turbocharged with 205hp and 248tq. All 5-speed. Could be fun to tinker with and up the boost. Back in '85 it ran a 15.1 stock, which was pretty good back in the mid 80'* for any car, period. Only weighed about 2900 lbs too. Not bad power output for a dang 4 cylinder either.
Then of course if you've got some cash to spend you could always pick up a Lightning or Supercharged Cobra for some real kicks...
