Default Bluetooth

Okay, so now I have a bluetooth enabled laptop (yey) and a bluetooth enabled phone (long story....just know that phones can't swim ). Now that I'm all outfited with this stuff, I really can't find much to do with either one as far as them communicating back and forth. Is there any way to use this for file transfer or is the only thing I'm ever going to get is a laptop that wants to use my phone as a modem? If it helps, I have a Motorola V710.

You'll get the real word on this from one of our "experts" soon, but I know that you can do file transfers using bluetooth. I used to use it all the time to enable presentations using my Ipaq PDA. But that'* been years ago already.

Yeah I'd really like to be able to put pictures on to the computer, and music onto the phone. More so the first then the second.

do you have verizon or cingular or other.

verizon cripples bluetooth requiring you to hack the phone to be able to transfer pictures and such

Cingular lets you use blue tooth to its fullest

not sure about others.

Jeanie, if you have Verizon, give me a hollar... I'll explain privately how to get around it.

You need to enable the OBEX profile on the phone.

I'd rather not, for potential TOS violations.

It ain't "legal" - I got Verizon, I've read how to do it (there'* a hint in my last post). It violates your warranty and terms of service. If they can prove you've modified your phone, they can get ya for it.
