My mom wants me to put up a double hook thing for her, and it is going to have to be able to hold some weight.(20lbs would be a good guess, maybe a tad more) But the only spot it fits, there is no stud.

So, what is the best way to hold onto drywall without the risk of it comming loose or tearing out of the wall?

Use a dull drill brit.. drill hole.

Insert plastic anchor for screw to hold onto.

Home depot sells anchor kits for drywall that are rated to hold up to 50 lbs. per anchor. They work VERY well. I use them on towel racks.

Don't bother with the Hercules hook. One of the local news stations does a "Try it before you buy it" segment where they test stuff. They tried the hooks, and they were pretty bad. The biggest problem was getting the stupid hook into the drywall. It didn't go in as easy as the commercial shows. With the curved design they couldn't get good leverage to push it in, and you can't really pound it through with a hammer either.

My dad always made it such a big deal going into drywall....but I tried out those molly bolt style (metal one pictured above) Seems to have worked really well.
