I'd be jealous if that wasn't made by HP. No offense.

You got some sweet hardware though.

What speed is your RAM?

Hey now, I may not have the $$ to make my car faster, but I got the RAM to take beyond nanoseconds!

Computers are like so many other things. Economy of scale prevails. You might be able to debate that a mac is better than a PC, but look where 9/10 of all the development efforts are directed. Yep, MicroSoft has such an overwhelming dominance, and PC price wars rage on, so why go with mac at all unless you really have to?

My money is on Windows and Intel/AMD. You'll never have trouble finding new things, if you want to upgrade, or need to repair a machine. I'd go with XP Pro, Will. There isn't much price advantage to Win 2k. At least not that I've seen lately. Upgrade to each is about 2 hundred.

I have both available. Just have to decide what to try. Still waiting for time to figure out why my system doesn't like XP.

Are you trying to use XP Pro, cause it'* a lot better. I love it, my friend says 2000 is the best but Hot Dang XP Pro is awesome. Everything just works unlike my old Operating System 98. I wouln't go back to it for nothing, I did have to re-install my Video Card, which was no biggy cause the CD that came with it had the XP driver on it. That'* the only thing that I had to do to get things running. And with installing a lot of programs I have a 43 Gigabite hard drive. I have 10 left. So I got a lot of programs on here that take 1 GB a program and I defragged the hard drive once since I got it.

Anyways look at the voting, everyone who has XP has no problems. 2000 is out voted.

For what its worth Will, the Media Player Ver. 9 for Xp is pretty nice, especially if you pop for the Plus package. It gives you lots to play with in terms of creating your own CD'*, etc.

Not to start a fight here, but why would you let MS decide what quality of MP3 you can burn to CD, create off of your own CD'*, or worse yet, why succumb to MS'* DRM (digital rights management)? To be honest, your best bet is to disable Xp'* CD burning capability so you can use the burning software of your choice, ie, Nero, CDRwin, or EZCD Creator. Also, in XP, MS has eliminated the CD player program. They want you to use Media Player for everything.

My honest opinion is to use nothing higher than Media Player 8, with a good firewwall (only if it works for you), if it doesn't there are dozens of programs that can replace it. Most of all, use the mplayer2.exe on your system (Media Player 6.4). It is much less bloated and will not "phone home" to let MS know what you are doing everytime you open a file.

Microsoft and the IRS are becoming too similar in my book:

The less that they know I exist, the better!
