Bad eyes no more!
Wren...the lowest price is to go accross the border to Vancouver, BC, Canada. The price includes an overnight stay at a nice hotel. Lots of my friends have gone to Vancouver and they are very happy with the results.

Make sure you check out some references before you take your eyes to the lowest bidder! Last thing you need is to step into the "doctor'*" office and see Dr. Nick sitting there reading the manual on his laser. Just like losing your grapes, life just wouldn't be the same if you lost your eyes.

At this point, money isn't a huge concern for me. It'* not my #1 limiting factor. I just don't want some doctor to make an "ooopsies" and there goes my eye sight. I value my eyes too much. The technology, in my opinion, is too new for me to potentially loose my eye sight.
While the process, technology, and doctors develop I'll continue wearing contacts.

I had lasik done a few years ago and now I see halos and starbursts like crazy. Make sure you check and have your pupils measures properly. If you have larger than normul pupils stay away from lasik regardless of what the doctors says. If your are within the normal range then get lasik.
It was a very painless procedure and took less than 5 minutes for both eyes.

The procedure is going to cost me about $3300. I can still remember when it was close to twice that.
As for the doctor. I'm very confident in him. He did the first surgery in the state 15 years ago. He also has very good credentials.
The prelim testing was pretty simple. The first visit they numbed my eyes and tapped them with a sensor to make sure there was enough material to remove. The next visit they did a wave scan of my eye. It makes kind of a topographical map of it. They also dialated my pupils and did a full exam. My prescription right now is around -8 in both eyes with a very slight astigmatism. Basically that means I'm blind without my glasses.
I was told the day of surgery I would be there for about an hour, but that the surgery itself only takes about 15 mins. I go in for a follow up the next day, and back to work on Monday.

Anyone who is a candidate for this procedure should not hesitate to do it.
Yes Vancouver is a very good place to have it done.
The waiting list is about 6 months but you can have it for $1000. per eye in Cdn $$.
