LMAO. I watched this last night, they called the race a few moments too late imo, and none of those drivers had sense enought to stop and loose their slicks?

They don't run full slicks on those, they get grooved radials, like F1 cars. And they probably had wet-track tires on those. I can't see them starting a race with a forecast like that without rain tires on. But once you get an actual puddle, it doesn't matter what kind of tire you have, you're hydroplaning.

I'm at work and can't double check but i swear the one cars tire I could clearly see was a slick. I guess I'll watch it again later if I get the chance. I've got to look at the wifes Olds trunk, she says it not closing as fast as it used to.

Jeez, you're right! The storm must have brewed up right then and there. For sure if they'd seen it in the forecast, they would have had rains on.

You don't run rain tires until the track is wet, you will destroy them in fewer than 10 laps on a dry track. Watch a GT race when it rains and then stops, as the track dries you will see the cars go off line to intentionally hit a wet spot to cool the tires until the next pit window then switch to dry tires.

My point was with the way it was down-pouring and that all of those drivers were experienced.... Who gets the DEET DEE DEE award? Anyone who kept racing was an idiot, plain and simple.
