Default Auto-volume adjustment

I drove my folks '03 Grand Am a couple times over the last month... I noticed that when you get going to highway speed, the radio volume automatically increases to overcome the increased RPM and road/wind noise. When you slow down, the volume lowers back to its original volume. Amazing! Anyone know how this works? Is it a feature or sensor that can be added to any head unit? Maybe this is a common feature, and I'm just behind the times. I would *definitely* like it in my Aurora.

yea my parents blazer has this too. Every 10 mph once you reach 30mph, the radio gets a certain volume. I think that it uses data from the VSS. No Bonneville 92-99 ever had this feature, not sure about the 2000+ models, although that wouldnt apply to you

Yep, my parents Blazer has it too. On the Blazer'*, theres a little adjuster that goes around the volume ****, so you can adjust how much the volume is adjusted or if it is at all. I think its called "Speed Controlled Volume" or SCV.

I find it annoying as hell to be honest....

I turn my music up when I'm on the highway... and then when I get off it and come to a stop... it'* like.... where'd my music go?

First thing I do when I get in a rental (or my folks Envoy) is turn it off.

It works by speed, not actual sound..... it would be cooler in my book if it actually worked by sound.

Certain aftermarket head units have this feature, too. My Pioneer Premier P-930 is capable of this option, but I do not have it wired to function. I also think it would be more of an annoyance, but its all about personal preference. Look into a new head unit if you're interested. A lot of high end models have this available, I think.
