Definitely depends on the car. In a nice big car like a Bonneville, I'll take the automatic.

On the other hand, a little Corolla or something really needs to be manual. Little cars with automatic trannys suck, IMHO.

For daily driving I want a Auto. I love to drive stick but I don't want to be clutching it in traffic everyday. Heck I get a kick out of driving the tow motor in the shop if I haven't driven a stick in a few weeks; You know 9'000lbs, a propane 4 banger with a 2 spd screams performance too (But put a few thousand pounds on those forks and you and pop wheelies in reverse)

Automatic. I like a stick every once in a while but I like to just be able to drive and not worry about a clutch or shifting gears or anything.

Automatic, especially for driving in traffic. The best is watching people on inclines (up) with manuals...hilarious, especially if they're not very good.

I really don't find it a hassle at all to shift. The only time I don't like it is when traffic is backed up really really bad, and the constant creeping forward. My left leg gets tired lol.

And in the winter it is unbeatable.

I've never been, but apparently clutch is all you smell when walking around San Francisco

I would go for a manual. Traffic for me is having to pass 3 amish buggies instead of only 1 on the way to work If I had acual bad traffic I might be tempted to go with an auto. This is assuming the same vehicle and motor options; I wouldn't give up on those just for a manual.

Yes, I would go with manual, better mpg, but more importantly, more fun
