FAIRFIELD — Lingerie at the local Victoria'* Secret store continues to attract unwelcome attention — not from gawkers, but from thieves.
Someone stole 50 bras from the lingerie store on the Post Road downtown sometime between 4:30 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday, police said Monday.
Lt. Michael Walsh said the bras were valued at a total of about $4,000 — the third such theft at the store in three weeks.
On Oct. 11, Victoria'* Secret reported the theft of seven to eight drawers full of reversible bras, with a total value of $2,500, and Oct. 5, the lingerie store reported the theft of 100 bras, from its pink collection, valued at $4,000, police said.
There was no sign of forced entry to the store in the latest incident, but an unidentified person was seen leaving the store with a bag full of bras in an earlier theft, police said.
Walsh said he didn't know if the bra thefts were prompted by a fetish, but added, "We have some people who steal strange things."
He said the total value of the bras led him to think it was more likely they were stolen to be re-sold.
