Exclamation Attention Moderators, i need your help!

here'* the deal. since i never became the owner of ex'* bonenville, i am still stuck with my crappy olds. alero. so, i'm over on the alero forum all the time and recently things have gotten so out of control that i can't even ask a simple question without a completely unnecessary, rude, out of place response. this isn't just happening to me...its happening to anybody who actually is seeking help instead of crapping up the site. the big claim by most of the people is that the site is simply dying because everything having to do with the alero has already been discussed. i refuse to believe this because this forum (bonnevilleforum) is dealing with cars decades older than any alero and its is still going stong and full of useful information. what are some suggestions on moderation that i could pass onto the owner of the alero forum or other non-corrupt moderators to help curb this ever-increasing issue?

any suggestions are greatly appreciated. this is my last effort at helping before i completely ditch the alero community.

That'* hard advice to give. A site is only as good as the members it attracts. And the members it attracts is a reflection of the moderators and administrators that run it. If the owner cares he will find people that can run it right. If he don't care then the farm animals run the barn.

I'm going to echo what Dan said. Also, the Forum owner and the Admin'* are the ones that are ultimately responsible for keeping order and maintaining the spirit and intent of the forum. There should also be some sites rules and policies that dictate how members are expected to act and treat others. If those rules and policies are in deed posted and visible for all members, then the site is lacking the care and enforcement from the site owner and admin.

I have banned over 100 members in less than a year. Dont be afraid to weed for the sake of keeping things decent. It is something that in the end, raises membership. I wont allow the Bonneville Forum do become involved in Social issues, But.... the way people speak and interact with each other, both staff and members is a key issue here. If the club is aging and the old gaurd is becoming bored and offending people, it'* time to remind them new members keep the forum fresh and flowing. If it doesnt sink in, it'* time for them to leave.

Interesting topic.

The owner and staff are commonly a large part of how the users act on a forum. Fostering negatism breeds it futher.

One of the hardships someone faces when they have been on a forum for a long time is not allowing themselves to fall into the habit of not answering the question that has been asked 100,000 times. Each time it'* asked, it'* new to that person.

And this is the very reason why we do write ups on so many topics. Including a link is easier for us then typing it out over and over.
