try the standard Agent (Forte Inc.), or I use BNR (Free, handles multiple servers, connections, etc) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bnr1/

Forte Agent is the one I use.

I was gonna say it was the best, but it depends on what you want to do (and which version you have)

Newsgroups readers. Newsgroups are kinda like the old pre-internet Bulletin Boards.

You can get all kinds of stuff off the news groups. Music, software, information, ****, and of course spam. And some pretty scarey suff, too. Some of the group titles are just too wierd to even investigate.

Do I type in news group? I don't want to go anywhere that I can pick up a virus. So should I stay away?

Newsgoups are not technically on the internet. They are a seperate function.

Do a Google search for something on the Groups link

For Example....

Kinda hard to explain. Your ISP should have a news server you can explore using Outlook Express

i use Xnews... i like it, but since have been using BitComet becuase i only used newsgroups for downloading music, so i use BitComet and torrentspy.com, works like a charm. last week i think i downloaded something like 8GB of music. i do miss the download speeds of newsgroups however, but with comcast i only get like 1GB a month and the headers alone from some groups would almost breach that...
