Hey, sorry I didn't reply sooner, been on the road.
Trucking is a great profession to be in. You meet new people, go new places, and make alot of money!
Slow down, trucker. It is fun, you do make money and you do travel.
You will not not however:
See the country (you'll see it through the windows as you drive by it and occasionally you may get to spend some time looking around)
OR
Get rich(you'll make a good living and if you budget and save you'll retire well)
But here'* a few tips:
-Buy a small fridge, live on groceries, and eat at truck-stops as little as possible. This will save you money and also help you keep a healthier diet.
-Don't shop at truck-stops at all if you can help it, their prices are massivley inflated.
-Get excercise. Do laps around the truck lot if you have to, but get excercise somehow.
-Get sleep on your off-hours. Don't whittle away your sleeping hours in the truck-stop arcade or watching the tube in your truck.
-Don't get over-dependant on caffeine. It loses it'* kick after a while.
-Bear in mind that there are rules governing your working and driving hours and they are fairly complicated. Pay attention when you go through your trucking school and you should come out with a good grasp of the basics. Your first trainer will teach you the little tricks and dodges.
Good luck and keep us updated.
