That'* because it'* usually cheaper to hire a pop singer to cover a song for the commercial than it is to license the original.

Back when I was in high school we used to have Hot Pursuit concerts two or three times a year. One year they did We Will Rock You, and took the guitar solo at the end off into a wild jam that kept coming back to the main rhythm. It went on for like five minutes, and I swear, I thought the bleachers were gonna collapse. They had the middle schoolers in too, so there were like 3,000 kids in two sets of bleachers. The stomp beat was deafening. There was dust coming down off the ceiling, and the principal was getting ready to pull the plug...
