I've always been interested in the whole Atlantis thing. Never really knew much of the details though, so I downloaded Plato'* writings and done a little bit of research. Mainly a source gathering mission right now. I printed out a bunch of stuff. Just have to read it all!

I'm a philosophy major, so I've read what you're talking about. In my opinion, Atlantis (in Plato'* writings) is more of a tool than a literal account. He used it to create a message (which he did a lot in his teachings). I don't take it literally. I assume you downloaded the dialogs of Timaeus and Critias.

Reading some of his other stuff may also help you understand his technique a bit more, that way you don't jump to conclusions. The Euthyprho debate is interesting.
