Default any old H-body (not bonneville) owners here

i've been wandering back and forth between doing the L-67 swap in the van and just buying a v-8 monza for a few months now.

anybody here ever owned or currently own a Vega/monza or any of their GM counterparts?

Had a 76 Monza we put a 70 station wagon 400 in. Wasnt bad, had a "kit" for motor/ tranny mounts ... the 400 bolted right into the Monza'* bell housing . Only real bitch was where the steering column hit the spark plugs. Didnt have the steering knuckles you can buy now and ground the coloumn post to half it'* diameter and went thru alot of silicone spark plug caps

No Nova'* were a mid size. Vegas were compact and the Monza'* just a little bigger. Both came with 4 bangers but accepted V8'* fairly easy.

1972 Nova

!972 Vega'*

!976 Monza

the vegas were 4 bangers and maybe 6.

the monzas were chevy 2.5 iron dukes, buick-olds-pontiac 3.8 v-6'* or chevy 305'*. soma california cars got 350'*, but they were actually slower than the 305'*.

that makes the monza the smallest GM production car to have a factory RWD V-8.

mine was a dark blue two headlight coupe with a 3.8/th350 combo. looked like a cavaler ran like a deamon.

The OEM 350 application.... wasnt that called a Monza Spyder?? I got a n/a one from friend who'* mom died and needed some cash. Also had a wrecked station wagon with 400 so they justt seemed a match. Bought some wheel adapter plates and put on Wide 15 inchers. The car was unbelievably fast and a bitch to keep on the road with that kind of torque.

the spyder was actually an appearence package. there was also a mirage pakage. as far as i know they were all V-8'* though. i don't proclaim to be the expert.

the trick with the wheels is to swap to *-10 spindles and axels, the bolt in and give you a 5x4.5 bolt patterns and larger front brakes. a pretty cheap mod that makes a huge difference.
