Thank you everyone....I hate it when drinking/driving accidents occur...it is senseless shame. To answer the questions:

PMom'* - I am doing fantastic! I am so thankful things turned out like they did. Yes, it stinks when stuff like this happens...but the alternate ending would have been...well... I would never be the same person, that is for sure. I got the call at 8am from my kid'* stepmom. She and I have a very good relationship (because we gang up on my ex since we both know him in the same capacity ) She handled the situation extremely well and I have total confidence in her ability to manage any crisis concerning the kids...this is the second one in 4 months that we have been through together.

It was not my house, rather the house across the road from my ex (I parked in his driveway, as shown in the pics). This is literally around the corner and down the road from me though. The gas meter was knocked off and the line ruptured. The gas company had to shut off the service to the house somehow, and the electrical company disconnected the lines right off the house to avoid posible fires.

I didn't see the vehicle, however I believe it was an SUV from what the step-mom told me. She could have been going as fast as she wanted since the road is total straight up until the bend that she failed to make. It goes right through town, but since she didn't remember leaving the bar, I doubt she was concerned about her speed.

Camera crews never made it out - however they did mention it (at least on the websites...I didn't see the news today.) And the Lockport AM radio station WLVL 1340 covered it, of course.

I bought a lottery ticket last night for the first time in a year...NYS MegaMillions.... I never buy them...maybe it'* a good thing I did.

Good to see everyone is OK.

That old house was probably built like a brick craphouse.....look at the plaster and lathe walls and clear studs. They don't build em like that anymore.
They also build homes farther away from the road now.

Yes...all the homes in this part of town were built back in the early 1900'*. Mine is all that plaster/lathe crap too :?

None! The other kid woke up when the TV landed next to his head....once his eyes adjusted he saw the gaping hole and realized why he was suddenly cold. He looked over at my son to find him sleeping...

How old is your kid? Man that is some marvelous chance right there, so very lucky that you avoided such tragedy.

Good Lord and butter...

How'* the family doing? Do they have someplace to stay?

Tell the kid not to make any bets. He just used up a couple years worth of luck there....

Thanks so much! We still need to get together sometime in the future!

This was my youngest - he just turned 12 on Valentine'* day.

The family has relatives in town so they are set temporarily. The hole was boarded up this afternoon and insulation was to be added. They were hoping that the gas/electric could be repaired today and an engineer needed to determine if it was structrally sound...in which case they would seal off that room and live in the rest of the house until they could get it repaired. They have remodeled most of the house with the exception of that room ....guess they will get it done a wee bit sooner than expected.

Hmm, out of all this does come one good thing then. They can remodel it on the insurance dime...

Glad they are OK. I do believe his guardian angel was working overtime. A lot of things definately had to fall just right in this crash for them to make it out.

I was going to make some comments about two boys sleeping in the same bed, one with a pink sleeping bag, but then I see he is only 12 years old. They fell asleep playing video games no doubt.
That is way too close to the road for my comfort.
I bet they wont sleep in that room anymore.
