That is the company that my dad works for... I don't know too much about the world'* scheem of things but I can tell you that they are probably one of Ohio'* biggest employers.... this company has DEEP Ohio roots. What is the number one goal in business? Oh yeah, to make a profit. So what if there is some Mexican working in a factory working his *** off to make a product? I bet half of the people that bitch about foreign labor wouldn't want to work an assembly line...

just my .02

Once again the "list" came from another source. But the comments I make are based on American jobs by the thousands being sent to china and India so companies can compete. Yes sounds like a good idea from an accounting standpoint. I agree. It also means we are supporting China, communist country with slave labor, and it is reducing the income of many Americans. America is the largest concentration of gainfully employed consumers whose power comes from product consumption and technology. Without the money to consume the American loses power. Giving away the technology also means less control. Corporate America’* greed base lead to the blind exodus instead of pushing harder for better legislation to protect what we have.

My point was “when you buy a product try and support American made because you support Americans”.

I buy coca cola and have for most of my purchasing life.. They still employ many Americans and I still support them.

There are many high tech jobs sent out as well and they are not crappy jobs. They are high dollar jobs being sent to India who'* Government has spent large amounts of money schooling and preparing to serve the outsource “need”. Ask any ISP that is American based and tries to compete. Same with computer programmers. If you try to compete you might as well be working at a factory..Oh wait they are being shipped to China.

Like I said before it is overwhelming to figure out in a quick online jaunt but thought I would share the concept that US companies are trying to fight a poor economy by outsourcing what American jobs they can.

Obviously there are still jobs but the American marketplace was not built on management. It runs on the monies of the low and middle class workers. We need these people to have jobs to buy product to help pay for our society.

As for the “list” I believe in outsourcing as needed but globalization done with no thought other than bottom line can and will lead to degradation of the security of America and the democracy we live with.

I firmly believe in US/Canadian jobs, and it bothers me a lot just like Ty here, when stuff is outsourced. Check out my 101 business disasters of 2003 i posted in the lounge and you'll see some "outsourcing" going on.

1. I, at least, was not referring to assembly line jobs that nobody wants. Let immigrants and asians have them. (Sorry if I sound like a bigot, but thats the way we have done things here in America for over a century). I was talking about the tech stuff, the middle class people that are getting screwed because of it. Awhile ago I called a tech suppory line of a internet hardware manufacturer becuase I had a problem. The person I got had such a thick foriegn accent it was almost impossible to understand him. That phone call was just about worthless in my opinion.

2. I agree with Ty, if there is an option, opt for North American, even if it is a little more expensive. Yes, some things can only be gotten from Asia, like clothes (coughNIKEcough) and electronics.

3. Who cares if we are supporting China or some Third World Country? I think the US foreign policy makes us too much of a doormat for other countries. If they want to become more successful, they will have to work hard at it just like we did. Lets face it, some countries will always be better than others, and most of it has to do with resources. One example of this is Japan, they have to import almost all of their oil.

I have to consider all of this because I'm going to college next year and I want a job where I cant be replaced.

One way that the US governement could help this would be to make some sort of international minimum wage, so that corporations that outsource have to pay foreign workers 75% of what US workers were paid to do. This is just a general idea with generalized numbers.
