Am I right to be offended
Hey Dan, you're right to be ofended. After almost 15 years as an MP ("You're not a real cop, you're just an MP) I learned tto consider the source. Some folks will do it on purpose, just to **** you off. Other just can't, or won't, be taught. It'* aggravating, but not worth giving yourself an ulcer, right?
Okay, I am going to add my 2 cents. WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!!!! I am a full time stay at home mom. I am extremely lucky that I can do that. However, it is the hardest job in the world. At least all of you are getting paid or for those of you who are going to college have the chance to get paid for what you do. I will never get paid for what I do. People (mainly men) look at me and all they think is she just stays at home.
Well lets look at what my job is all about: I am a doctor, a therapist, a problem solver, an accountant, a chef, a taxi, a friend, a dictator, a law maker, a mediator, a teacher, a lover (for PDad). I don't just sit at home and watch soap operas (actually I hate them). I am very involved in my childrens school, PAC (same thing as PTA) president, DIstrict PAC secretary, Parent rep for the School Growth Plan, PAC rep for Superintendants Forum for schools, volunteer reader for grades 1 and 6, skating teacher for grades 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, as well as my sons teacher aid because there are not enough teacher aides to go around and his teacher does not have the time to spend with him.
All of these things I do, I do not get paid for, and do not get any recongition for. Plus I am just looked upon as not working or being lazy.....and I am far from that!!!!!!

Now if anyone has something to bitch about it is YOU. I know that there are "some" stay at home moms that sit around and think they are great moms but their children are spoiled ( and that is an understatement) and probably not even 1/4 involved like you are with your children. Not getting into details, but I know that is NOT you. I have all the respect for people that can do that and actually be involved with their children.
I dont mean any disrespect, but if you have all this training, why dont you go out for the police department? :?: Most people get mislabeled at their jobs, most of the time in a demeaning fashion, sometimes on purpose sometimes not. SSE1990, I know what you mean, I used to be a manager at a restaurant, and due to the way I look, long hair and goatee no one believed I was the manager, just thought I was some cook or waiter, until they realized that I was the highest they could go to.
Bottom line, dont take offense and move on. Let them think whatever they want, as long as you get the proper paycheck. Screw who ever thinks otherwise.

Oy, it'* hard, you can let yourself get offended, but try to keep it internal. I keep a journal that i call my b#$% journal cause it'* where i let off steam.
Being a teenager, living at home at age 19, being a full time student, wearing a lot of black, and having an eyebrow stud, i am labeled as a troublemaking freeloading lazy punk teenager who will never go anywhere in life...when in reality i am a full time student with a major in criminal justice, hold down three jobs, have friends and a life, and am an active volunteer firefighter.
Scary thing is, most of those labels came from my extended FAMILY
Also, i want to eventually become a conservation officer...i tell people this and they say "oh, you want to be a park ranger?"...................
:?
This, too, shall pass."

I was a Security Officer at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant in Southport,NC. I see no reason to be pissed off about it maybe a little annoyed. We did not have the power to arrest someone but we could detain them.
