Default About to by a jeep and I know the Trade in amount but

The owner traded in a 2004 jeep wrangler X 29k mi. for 12,000 which seems kinda low. If I walked in that dealership he traded it in at and said I will take this vehicle for 12500 what do you think they would say? I mean no time wasted (except paperwork) and they made a quick 500 bucks assuming that the guy didnt get hosed on the car he got from them. So they could have actually made more if they hosed him on the other side.. The KBB on it is 15,400.

I doubt it will work. They trade cars for a living, and base the trade in amount on the minimum they will expect to get. If it just got there, plan on paying a lot closer to KBB value....

Only one way to find out, Vince - belly up and make the offer. The worst that can happen is they tell you you're crazy.

A lot depends on how long it has been sitting on the lot and in their inventory. If it has only been a few days or even a couple of weeks, they will probably laugh at you.

About 30 days on the lot and they may be more willing to entertain offers.

I agree about how long they've had it. My dad offered the dealer around here $11,500 for the Chrysler when they wanted $13,500 for it, they'd had it about a week. 2 weeks later they were ready to sell it to him.

Don't forget that when a dealer sells it, hes got to warranty it. That be 3 months bumper to bumper here. I doubt they'll sell it that cheap.
