As many of you already know, I'm currently driving my fiance'* 1998 Plymouth Neon. He'* got my 1990 Chevy K1500.

When I first got the Neon, it REEKED. He left old food wrappers and dirty work clothes in there, plus his job (diesel mechanic) means he sweats a lot, and gets into fuel and various other semi fluids. I drove with the windows down for the first two weeks and gave the interior a thorough cleaning.

This morning, I went in my truck to get my cell phone case, and LO AND BEHOLD, my beloved truck now smells horrible as well. There are old Taco Bell wrappers, dirty work pants, remains of lunches, and greasy tools wrapped in shop towels EVERYWHERE...and this is an extended cab truck!!! I need that truck TOMORROW to go pick up our bicycles. Does anyone know of anything that'll get rid of stink FAST so I can drive without gagging?

Sidenote, it does not make sense for me to reposess my truck. Driving his Neon is saving me about $75/week in gas.

Im thinking a good spray with some Simple green on the carpeting to clean and refreshen, then place a couple of air fresheners in the truck, one up front and one in the back. Once thats done, buy some of that carpet fresh stuff and sprinkle it on the carpeting and let sit for a day or so, then vacuum. Lastly, febreeze the seats.


Hopefully that will get the stank out!!

I agree with Black, but if you have to shortcut for speed, at least get the air fresheners and some Fabreze for the carpet and seats.

Oh, and read the riot act to fiance...he'* got to start thinking like he'* not single anymore, lol.

Yup try some Fabreze,,,works in the house good with my the stinky a** dog......

maybe a little hygiene and respect lesson is in hand more so than cleaning it.

I would vaccum it out, and try fabreeze

another for Fabreze. Whoever invented that stuff was a genius.

Thanks to all! I will hit it with febreeze (okay, so I could have worded that better, sue me), invest in some air fresheners, read him the riot act (since I'm taking such good care of the raisin on wheels), use carpet freshener, and hope for the best...

Okay, if you want to take the nice approach. I was thinking more along the lines of "kick his ***!!"
Doesn't he take pride in his vehicles? That is disgraceful to leave food and wrappers in the vehicle. YUCK!!

Ugh, trust me, I know. He'* an only child. Chalk it up to that, perhaps?

He'* housetrained...sorta. O.o We seem to have an issue with dirty socks under the kitchen table.

Other than having no sense of smell and being relatively messy, he'* a truly wonderful human being, really...so I don't generally complain too much.

Why can they leave clothes next to the laundry hamper but never make that extra step to put them into the hamper???

Socks under the kitchen table does not sound appetizing in the very least. Perhaps you need to show him the error of his ways
