93 olds cutlass ciera
my girlfriend needs a car (i'll add the word "still" for anyone who remembers me saying this before) and not far from my home is a 93 cutlass ciera S. it's white, looks to be in good condition, has the usual amount of wisconsin rust, but that's been painted over. it has only 110k on the clock, and he's asking $1,150 (which i blue booked, and it's right).
what i don;t know is what motor it is. if it's the 3.1, i know those eat intake gaskets. if that's the case, i'm willing to guess they're bad. are those hard to replace? are there any common problems with this car that i/we should be advised of? |
The intake gaskets on the 3100 are more involved to change than on a 3800. That's for sure. The pushrods have to be removed.
If that's the 3300, definitely go for it. The 3300 is just as strong as the 3800, but wasn't used for very long. |
on kbb.com, it didn't have the 3.3 as an option for the motor....

well thanks for the help, i'm gonna go look at the car hopefully tonight when i'm done with work and see how it runs.

3300 is a great motor. (Sez the Admin that owned a 93 Ciera with the beast under the hood) |
3300 is a pretty good motor... It does however lack a Balance shaft which will give it a bit of a jiggle.. But its a Peppy little motor.. 93 was most likely the best year for this motor and last year of production.. You can call it the little brother of the 3800 ;)
