SCX IIRC was limited production and had special stuff.

The Quad 4...should have been limited production as they had tons of problems. I see billions of them in the JY.

As billboost said....TONS of those cars at junkyards. It looks a bit rusted, I'd pass but hey if you can get it for a couple hundred bucks I'd say go for it.

BTW most consider those motors torture to work on. The water pump is driven off the timing chain and the chain is about 10 feet long.

Head cracking issues, head gasket issues.... very fast for a 4 popper...but longevity usually wasn't a highpoint.

The motor may be new to the car...someone painted that cover though.

Yeah the Quad 4s are known for head gaskets and bottom end not getting oiled good enough. The head cracking problems apply more to the SOHC head, not many DOHC heads crack. The W41 coil covers come from the factory red, and that one is chipped quite a bit.

So the general consensus is keep looking? I REALLY need a cheap car to get to my job, and I only have about a grand to spend
