Can anyone tell me the location of the tcc sylenoid on a quad 4 grand am? I know you have to take the side plate of the tranny off.......but is it on top of the tranny or what? any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the engine, the TCC solenoid is down on the right attached the the side of the transmission. It'* easy to get to. Mine had a square blue harness (with 2 wires) plugged into it. My TCC solenoid failed, and once the tranny shifted into TCC, it wouldnt unlock. That is, when I came to a stop, the car acted just like a manual tranny in 4th gear without pushing in the clutch. Rather than replacing the solenoid, I just disconnected it.

Mine didnt have the Quad4; it had the 2.5L 4tech...the so-called "iron horse".

okay.thanks.....well there is a plugin on top of the tranny....is that it? Can you just unplug it or will that make the tranny get hot? Is it easy to change?

Here'* a photo of my Grand Am 2.5L. The TCC solenoid is down on the right, below the air supply tube. You can see a little blue connector in the photo. It is very near that. I am not sure if your Grand Am is set up the same way. Like I said earlier, I just disconnected mine, as I rarely needed TCC. It was basically a run-around town car. Sorry forthe little blurry pictures.

I guess I misread the air cleaner horn, too. I always thought it said "4 Tech". Hmm.

okay........Do you know how hard it is to change? We are going to change this tomorrow. I hope this fixes the car. It will run fine until it gets hot out an the car warms up then it will vibrate and then when you stop at any place it will die.........if ya wait an few minutes it will start up and run again. Everyone Ive talked to said it was the tcc sylenoid. Sure hope they are right.

Sorry...I never changed it. Hopefully it'* not too hard. Like I said, I just disconnected mine. There is a Grand Am Forum out there. Perhaps they will have the answer.

If I unplug this one will I still have brake lights and will it not harm the tranny?
