Default 5-Day Hearing??

OK...about a month ago I got a ticket for expired license plates...I know, I know - stupid on my part. The ticket was waiverable according to the ticket itself and the woman who took my money. So I paid the $96 and I thought all was over. In Ohio for a waiverable ticket you just pay it and it'* over. Apparently not in this case. I just got a notice about a "5-Day Hearing" hearing that I have to be at on the 29th to "answer to the charge of expired license plates." Ummm...when you pay the waiverable ticket, aren't you admitting guilt and ending it??? According to the Docket on 2/6 I plead guilty and paid the fine!!!

WTF is a "5-Day Hearing" hearing??? and why the hell are they STILL bothering me?lol

In Ohio expired license plates are an equipment violation.

It sounds like a clerical error. Did you pay cash or check? Did you get a receipt? I would call them and tell them what day you paid. And always always get a receipt for everything...especially if you pay cash.

Yea...I paid cash. I have a receipt to. The docket also reflects that I pled guilty and paid the fine. It does not mention a new hearing.

I had a friend who had to go back to court after he plead guilty to his ticket for illegally tinted windows, which is also an equipment violation (less than a speeding ticket). He had to show proof that he corrected the illegally tinted windows. I'm wondering if it'* called a "5-Day Hearing" bc 5 days has passed (even tho its been more) and they want to see if I've got legal plates now.

OH yea! That makes sense....if you haven't, they'll slap you with a bigger fine.
