Default 2004 Mustang (not for me)

My sister is getting a new car and it looks to be a 2004 Mustang. Not that I didnt try going the Pontiac route with her LOL. She is a single student with no kids, so she deserves at least one new sports car in her life. We test drove it, actually pretty nice with a V6. Anyone here have experience with newer Mustangs and reliablity issues?

Oh yea, first oil change will be Mobil One

Looks like I get to learn Blue Oval

She is trading off the ole reliable Honda Civic

You can get power out of the 6, hell they're more supported then ours.

Not bad cars at all. My dad has had two rentals out in LA, and he says they haul *** around the exit ramps, even the convertable.

Probably not going to mod it mechanically, maybe some tint and thats about it. Buying this car is going to cost enough LOL

basically all you can do to a v6 mustang is make it look better and get it breathing better... my buddy has a green 2000 with intake and cat back and he runs a 17.2!!!

Tell her to go ahead and spend the extra money for the V8, she'll never regret the cost.
The V6 is OK reliability-wise, and they make decent enough power for point-A-to-B,
but if she has a lead foot, she'll get tired of it real quick.

Wait for the 2005'* .... nice!! Although, the 2004 Mustangs are cool, too. I agree, spend the money on the GT. You'll get at least 265 horses outta it, and those move with a manual tranny. If she gets the V6, make sure to go manual transmission -- handles a lot better!

Not to mention Ford AOD problems, I forgot about those! :?

(For those not ITK, that'* a Focus with a Mustang V8 stuffed into it!!! )

Well its all over but the paperwork and payments, We picked it up tonite. It has 26 miles on it LOL. Silver gray, 2 tone grayish interior (ala Jrs3800 91) polished alloy wheels and a BIG scoop on the hood. Pics to follow as soon as I get it claybared, dealership didnt do it good enough for my tastes. Its the v6 model

Well, if she wants a fast accelerating car, don't buy it. I drove a 99' Mustang V6 around for 2 weeks and 1,500 miles. Its pretty good off the line (gaering) but on the highway it sucks, heck after 30mph it sucks. But, overall its been reliable, and has great handling. Watch out for BREAK PROBLEMS though. It will probably be just like her Civic only with more style.
