WOW! I figured Seagate would be one of the first ones. I buy Seagate and nothing but Seagate. Excellent quality.

If I had to guess a price, I'd say they'll cost around $650 when they come out.

Considering Seagate owns Maxtor now, I'll NEVER buy a Seagate again, I have access to failure rate information for most of the drives in the past 3 years but I gotta keep my mouth shut.

I've had good luck with Maxtor. I've had something like 5 Western Digital drives die on me over the past 3 years or so. One of them, even a warranty replacement. I used to run them all the time without problems, but the Caviar drives seem to fail on me a lot, some just outside the warranty period. I'm no longer a customer.

i had read about the perpendicular recording technology a year or so ago. Seems like a great concept.
