The last couple times I tried to pull an April Fool'* joke, it was funny, but I knew the AFJ police would be all over me this year after 'selling' the SSEi last year.

Preparations started early. Polishing the SLE (or at least the timing of it) was deliberately planned, as was the Craigslist ad. I priced it high so nobody would be interested. Little did I know that even at that high-end-of-the-scale price, I got SWAMPED with interest, only one of which seems to be someone from here trying to mess with me.

No, I didn't sell the intake, either, although I still need to put it back on the car. It'* sitting here beside my computer desk. GoldenBullet was in on that part, as I didn't want anyone getting overly excited about it, so I had a 'tag man' standing by for the first bid.

That was necessary to pull of the joke.

The money? I don't have that kind of money. That was a stack of mostly 20'* and 50'*. I manage the duplex I live in for a friend. I asked the 3 guys next door to pay rent in cash this time for the sole purpose of pulling off the AFJ.

Yes, the car would probably be gone by now a couple times, but for the PIF trans. I have alot more respect for what this Forum and it'* members did for my car. It'* here for the long-term if I have anything to say about it.

Y'all thought you had me pinned there for a bit, but I gotcha in the end.

(the entire Staff was also in the dark about it, including Don, who I speak with regularly)

You got me. I bought the whole story, I have to admit it. The CL ad was very convincing. I am not surprised that you got calls on it since it looked so nice in those pics. Well done ad BTW.

The stack of money was definitely the biggest convincer for me. Up until I saw that I was like "yeah, whatever." Figured that posting the CL wasn't a big deal, and saying that there was "interest" in the car with folks stopping by would be pretty easy to fake (like you said, it'* easy enough to set a high price and easy enough to tell callers there'* a sale pending from the get go, etc.)

You get props for "convince-ment"

EDIT: By the way, GREAT ad! I'd follow your format for getting a good selling price on a car.

That ad worked. But then again, I have a reputation for being able to sell a bucket of sand to an Arab.

I got alot of interest in the car, and simply ignored them all.

Katie and I had plotted to leave it hanging until the meet at the end of the month, then hide the car for the arrivals, sneak out late at night after everyone crashed, then have it there when everyone woke up the next morning.

The volume of phone calls from members, however, was reaching a critical level. I know I got quite a few.
