Default &(&@@#% Fuel filter quick clips (not the Bonneville)

This is the Malibu I am posting about, Bonney has always been a piece of cake. Squeeze the clips and its outta there. I decided to change the one in the Malibu last night, It wasnt little squeeze tabs, but instead this black plastic ring with 4 tabs. I managed to complety destroy it trying to get it apart. When it finally cooperated, 2 sleeves and 2 o rings fell out in my face. It took some messing around with the sleeves and o rings to get it together leak free., The new filter had the 2 clips like I am used to, but they didnt seem to snap in quite right. It seems to be leak free after 24 hours but now the car kinda falls flat on acceleration. Ticks me off, what was wrong with 2 flare fittings anyways?

Hopefully it will hold together for awhile.

Well its still NOT running right and I dont trust it outta town, Has anyone here ever had to use one of those line repair kits for this problem? I am going to try to install one tonite and cure it for good, I took another look at the Bonneville and its 2 REAL flare fittings, forgot about that, its my Dads Blazer with the easy clip one LOL
