Does anyone else find it disturbing that we're excited to find gas at just under $3/gal when, at this time last year it was $2.30 or so per gallon? Oil companies have been using the same M.O. for years - jack the price up $.50 over what they want it to be ($3.50/gal in this case) so we're all pissed, then let it settle into the desired price ($3.00/gal) and now we're happy 'cause we're not paying $3.50 - all the while they're producing record profits. And, in case you're wondering, your local retailers are lucky if they're making more than a couple cents on each gallon of gas.
