Default WILL NOT CRANK AFTER MILD OVERHEATING 1998 SE

HI ALL .
My wife'* baby oeverheated enough to run a little ruff on her way home from work which is about 2mi. The next day i started it up no problem to look for leaks. no leaks but i noticed the fan motors not turnning on. my son a mechanic in training said to turn on the airconditioner, again no fan motors. we turned it off to further inspect. loose or damaged wires all ok so i started it backup no problem no hard start no grind no stall nothing but normal operation and moved it 5 ft into it'* parking spot. heat gage never went past 1/4 up which is only a little more than normal. we replaced the coolant temp sensor to begine a least exspensive first approch to fixxing the fan problem .other than making a mess when pulling the sensor everthing went fine. went start it up to see if that was the problem and nothing just a very modest clic and nothing. he dropped the belt and both alt and air compressor spun freely. all bells and buzzers work when opening the door and with key in. head lites dim when attempting to start
checked all fuses interior and underhood. it is raining so can't get under car just yet. average hourerly wadge in this area is 120 and hour which way out of my league. any ideas would be appreciated. other than testing the starter(which showed o signs of
goeing) my son said the engine must have froz even though he has never seen or heard of it happening when smooth running engine is shut down while cool. He said even if oil fried in area that lets oil into the piston , it shoud try to start he is stumped and my wife is crying. please help
