new to site-2nd bonneville but with a new question.
I love your site and I am looking forward to picking up my bonneville. I just bought a '92 SSEi and I need to put a new engine. I just got my hands on a highly modified 3.8 with 10.5 to 1 pistons. Unfortunately I think this might be too high of compression for the supercharger. I have considered getting lower compression pistons but a friend told me that on some imports they get a thicker head gasket to create a lower compression chamber. Does anyone have any ideas. I have a couple of weeks to figure it out as I will pick up the car christmas weekend. I am really lookinig forward to getting this car as it is just like the car that I had when I was in high school.
Thank you,
Chuck

Congrat'* on the purchase, and welcome to the club.
Yeah, you will definitely want thicker head gasket'* with that kinda compression. If you don't you'll be getting KR at idle -well not quite, but you'll definitely have some issues. I'm not sure how thick you want to go on the gasket'* -I'll leave that for the gearheads.
What else has been done to the engine for mods?
First mods when you get it should be a Cold Air intake, 180* t-stat, high flow cat, high flow muffler, and talk to Dr Jay about hooking you up with some 1.72 rockers.

Well, the car I bought already has a cold air intake, heavy duty cv axles and so forth. Also, this is the description of the engine I bought. All I need to do is put it together.
Cylinder heads completely rebuilt with new stainless steel valves. New heavy duty valve springs and exhaust vavle guides modified for high lift cam.
New crankshaft with New 3/4 race camshaft and new bearings. New 10.5 to 1 Pistons and Pins, New roller timing chain.
I am hoping to rework the computer and be putting 300HP at the wheels. I also at some point might like to put a 100hp shot of NOS...just a thought. I just want it to be faster than the one I had before.

Well, it will be more of just a plain modified 3.8, but I have a friend that says he can write a computer program for my computer. I am just going to see what I can put together. It is a project, but if it works out well, a very good one. Does anyone know where I can find the taller head gaskets??? let me know.
