Just joined today. Most of my vehicles over the years have been Fords but I've had a few GM, a 72 C-10, a couple of *-10 Blazers, an 81 Skylark, and a 2005 TrailBlazer. I've kept my first one, a 76 Buick Regal. I ordered it in November 75 with the 231 odd-fire V-6 which I later replaced with a 350 4-bbl. Buick V-8. I stopped driving it several years ago. I don't think it'* been started for at least 8 years.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I cleared the dust and got it out with the intention of getting it back on the road. For a 40-year old car, it'* not in bad shape, rust in the trunk area and slight rust on the passenger-side fender and door, as well as some floor pan rot. It was running when I parked it but it now seems to have either a bad ignition switch or wire as headlights and blower motor work but won't engage the starter.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get some tips on this forum from others with similar vehicles.

Welcome to the forum and nice looking mid-70'* GM! Assuming you used a fresh battery the first thing I would check would be the battery cable connections to ground and the positive to the starter solenoid, but with a vehicle sitting that long I'd almost bet dollars to donuts that you've had a rodent problem, possibly the ignition switch wire leading to the solenoid. I'd check all that related wiring for damage before faulting the switch. Good Luck!

You are going to have to check the wiring closely and check for voltage at ignition & starter.
