Hi, have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8L II that is having 4t60e down shift problems. It also suffers from the '95 OBD2 connecter for the OBD1 error codes.
The car runs and drives great; had 109,000 miles on it when I found it in a junk yard in Aug of last year; engine looked like you could eat off of it. Changed the Trans fluid & filter (fluid was black!).
Someone tell me which forum can help me?

Thanks

What was that car doing in a junk yard???

You will want to make a post in the Pontiac Bonneville 92-99 section here: 1992-1999 - GM Forum - Buick, Cadillac, Chev, Olds, GMC & Pontiac chat

We have a couple resident transmission specialists that should hopefully chime in.

My sentiments exactly! It seems that the person who owned the car was on the run; the car was left on rented property and the owner of the car left the state. The junk yard owner had to petition, if that'* the correct word, the state to get a new title- abandoned car thing. When I popped the hood and saw how clean the engine was, and how clean the interior of the car was, I bought it for my wife.
So far it has been a good deal. The gas mileage is low, 16 to 24mpg, and the take off from stop is sluggish but can be corrected for by shifting down into first gear.
Thanks for the referral.

Thank you Travis,
do you have any ideas on how to retrieve the OBD1 codes? I am reluctant to take it to a GM dealer because of the expense. Also, it has developed a 'Security' light lock out problem: it only lasts for a few minutes but I don't know how to stop it from happening.
