My FIL bought a new Impala over a year ago and let his granddaughter have is 100K '95 Bonnie that was absolutely immaculate. She drove it for a year and it was driven hard and put up wet (literally -- wet life jackets & stuff) for a couple of months. He said that it would be mine if we could get it cleaned up and drivable.

It was under trees and the paint was pathetic with leaf stains and the interior had mold all over it. My FIL and I spent over 20 hours combined detailing the thing. I spent over 3 hours shampooing the carpet and headliner. We pressure washed the outside and then I claybar'ed the paint. I then put some mequiar'* cleaner wax -- two coats, to get the paint back to normal. I then cleaned and conditioned the leather. During the detailing, the cup holder came off in my hands. It was funny to see the posts about everyone'* cup holders being gone.

The front brakes were metal pad backing grating on the rotors, the electric antenae didn't work, the console latch was busted, and the trunk wouldn't latch.

We took it to a mechanic with a junk yard and he did the antenae and latches. I put some Bendix rotors and pads on it and drove it home. I was amazed to see it get over 30 mph on the highway. I have since done a tranny service on it (pan drop and filter) and will do another pan drop in a few days as I believe it has been well over 50K since it was serviced. I also put fresh brake and PS fluid it it.

I still need to polish and wax the exterior, do another leather cleaning, put in a 180* stat, and tranny cooler.

This thing is as tight as a drum and rides like a new ride. I like it more and more the more I drive it. I'll get a good picture later after more detailing. The paint is very good shape with just a couple of rock chips on the hood.

Yes, it'* mine. I did the cutting and gross measurements and a fellow BITOG member in the filter business did the pore and flow tests. At this point I'm really burned out on oil filters .

Ooohh no, the questions have yet to begin. haha :P
