re-too all
i'm currently stationed at ft campbell k.y. and unfortunately headed to korea in january. but it gives the oppertunity to save some green for my mods. i made my own cai and bought the 180 thermostat and also bought a tranny kit. bonny has 50,000 miles on her and is probably for a filter replacement. also i think i have the bottom motor mount thats by the radiator going bad so that'* my next job. anyone have any input on the headache level on that job. i'm also going to give her a new set of plugs but i need some insight on the coolest burning plug i can put in her. i want the spacer for the throttle body. also if i delete the resinators at the end of the pipes will it give it a deeper tone or will it sound like a ricer on streriods.been thinking of taking the tips off but worried it'll down grade the sound of the her. any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks all,
cliff

Welcome.
I'd suggest NGK TR55'* (that'* what I use), but a friend who has a low 13'* (1/4) GTP suggest'* I use Autolite 605'* gapped at .057" -they're cheap ($1.97 for a 2-pack at Wal-Mart) and work great with my current level of mods. Not to say you are limited to those two, but they're both good. Another good one is the AC Delco Platinums (can't remember proper #).
For the throttle body spacer -DON'T!! I was going to do one, but after reseaching them I found them to be causing hydrolocking of our not so cheap L67 engines.
Try a TB heat shield instead, and wrap the cross-over pipe with exhaust wrap.
If you are still using the stock airbox pull it out and bust out the baffles. Lot'* more air flow. Also remove the MAF screen from the throttle body, but try not to damage it in case you'd ever want to put it back in.
For the exhaust have a straight pipe in place of the resonator -any exhaust shop should be able to do this for under $40.
Not too familiar with the 2k-newer SSEi exhaust systems, but if you have the u-bend (I don't believe you do though) like the Grand Prix'* have a y-pipe put in place of it. I do know that the stock mufflers are VERY restrictive. I wouldn't suggest straight pipes in their place -it'* still a family car.
Another trick for at the track is to disconnect the two front wheel speed sensors.
Also, get a couple guys to sit in the trunk for a minute or two to gett the rear suspension aired up all the way. While it is up, pull the fuse for the level controller. These two mods will help quite a bit with the launch.
Good luck with the modding and be sure to let us see a pic or two of your beauty.
