Default New from Finger Lakes Region in New York

I am new to the site and I already love it! Everyone here has been so helpful. I want to apologize in advance for any spupid questions I may ask. I am not mechanically inclined at all but I am eager to learn. My goal is just to keep my car running as efficient as possible as I live in an area with no public transportaion and things are sp spread out that walking is not an option. I have two children...Jasmine is 9 and Joshua is 4. I am excited to chat with anyone willing to be patient enough to help me out.
Thanks!

also I thought I would mention a few things I haev already replaced in the car...maybe someone can tell me what to expect next. (180,000 miles on the car!)

spelling doesn't count!
-rack and pinion
-master cylinder
-computer
-alternator
-intake manifold
-exhaust&muffler (twice, but i guess that'* to be expected)
-all fuel lines
I think that'* about it, but I'm sure there'* more that I can't remember!

Welcome. Bath'* not far from a couple members, including myself.

As for the car, it looks like you've replaced a lot of the major components. One thing to watch would be the coolant level and the color of the oil. The 95 SSE should have the Series 2 3.8L motor (L36 ) which does have a tendancy for the upper intake to fail. Signs of that would be losing coolant with out external leaks, and higher oil level and the oil looking like chocolate milk.

If you use the search, you can find more info on it, or someone might be able to search it out for you.

Welcome, and if you ever need parts, feel free to send me a message. I have a bunch of spare parts.

Well, I was losing coolant with no external leaks and it ended up being the intake manifold, which is the recent thing I have done. The problem I am having now though it that when I am idle (i.e. at a red light or even coasting down a hill) the car acts like it wants to quit, it bucks and my lights dim and i lose the fan for the heat. As soon as I step on the gas I get it all back. Someone told me to replace the O2 sensor, because the intake manifold was shot long before I knew it and because I was "burning" coolant for so long it may have blown the sensor. I am so tired of paying out the @$# for a mechanic and I wish it was something I could do myself! I, however, and not mechanically inclined in the least. So it looks like as soon as I am done paying my mechanic for the last job I will have it in the shop again to have the sensor replaced.
Does it ever end?!?
