Default New Bonnneville owner!

I just purchased a 1996 bonneville with 140,000 kms for 6500 (canadian).
I live in windsor ontario. I have one question i heard that the EGR valve casing melts the plastic intake manifold and coolant enters through the intake. I dont need that is there anything i can do to prevent this from happening?

Welcome to Da Club! You can buy aftermarktet reinforced manifolds for that disaster waiting to happen.

There is a Sticky in Mech and Maint 92-99

Add a 180 T stat pronto...very cheap part to buy and a DIY project. As well, keep an eye on yer coolant levels and make sure the oil is nice and clear, any sludgyiness and you may have an problem.

Twister is correct tho, there is a reinforced manifold you can buy. No worries, its a great car.

Yea, I wouldnt worry about it to much. As long as your keep the fluids fresh, and add the 180 t-stat, you should be fine. I have had mine for one year and put 20k miles on it, and only recenlty in the past two weeks I have put a 180 stat in it. Switch to synthetic oil if you have not done so yet.

Thanks everyone. Glad to be apart of the club.
180 stat is ordered, and considering on aftermarket intake. Just have to find someone that delivers to canada.
