Go with the ssei, I have an SE and it hates regullar gas so I put in the premium. Plus you get better gas mileage with premium anyway. Plus if any nip rods want to take you, you'll wax them.

I would say, if you don't mind paying for premium go get the SSEi!
Whatever you decide to do, do not get an aftermarket sunroof or moon roof installed, unless you're willing to pony up some serious cash at a reputable installer. If you cheap out, it is 99.9% guaranteed to leak. (Hell, 50% of the time, factory jobs will leak...that'* the price paid for having a giant hole in your roof.)
The person who told you his aftermarket job doesn't leak either spent $2k+ or is lying to you.
Alot of this has been said already but...
As for which car, there'* virtually no difference in terms of overall styling, reliability issues, etc., between the two model years ('00, '02), so no advantage either way there; however, the SSEi, being the highest trimline, is guaranteed to have all the bells and whistles (good suspension, gadgets, etc.), AND has the HD transmission--not to mention the */C--those are huge advantages...you know you're getting it all with the SSEi.
So, go supercharged if you can afford the insurance.
Your so-called "friends" trying to steer you away from it are simply afraid you'll own them on the street.
Sounds like what you really need is a better class of friend
(just joking...sort of!)
