hi from VA
hey guys! i stumbled upon the bonnie club looking for info about a weird knocking noise, and then i felt ashamed i hadnt found it prior! i just made the last payment on my 99 SE, and shes had the fortune to have survived the upper intake replacement, and i wouldnt trade her for the world. (well, maybe for an all original 79 firebird esprit body with an olds 454.)
im in hampton VA, if anyones interested. hope to chat sometime soon!

Welcome to BC. Always nice to make that final payment, but not too nice to have a knocking noise. :? Depending on when the UIM was replaced and what work was done, the UIM and/or LIM may still be vulnerable.

thanks for the warm welcome, we havent quite gotten around to identifying the knock, my mechanic buddy has mentioned that possibly the rods are pitted, it did sit for 3 months with antifreeze in the engine before we could fix the UIM (winter laziness), but the knock seems to be around the timing chain area, and it only surfaces when its cold, and when i get down on it, which ive managed so far to be a good girl and be easy on her. as soon as we can get a 2nd car, hubbys gonna tear it apart and see whats going on, meanwhile, good old valvoline molasses has quieted it down some. haha.
