Hello from Hamilton ,NY
my name is David Scheckler, i live in upstate NY ,or a some call central NY . i am 53 years old, married w/3kids that are out on there own now yeehaww ! i drive tractor trailer for chobani yogart, and i love GM products. ive owned alot of GM cars the ones i like most are the buick, olds, pontiac models. the ones with the best engines i think GM ever built the 3.8L. I own a 1997 pontiac bonnieville se, which i bought from my former boss about 7 years ago what a great car. I had 1999 olds 88 that i wrecked , pulled the engine and tranny out and junked the car it was totaled, just from hitting a deer at 65 mph, was crazy destroyed the front end, and the air bags deployed doing alot of damage on the inside, including taking out the windshield, but the car still ran and drove fine, lol, no radiator leaks, after getting pulled over by the man a few times i decided to get rid of the car, but kept the low mileage 3.8L eng and tranny.thats when i bought my 1997 bonney. I recently posted in GM forums about taking the tranny from the 1999 olds 88 which i believe has the 4T65E trans, and putting it in my 1997 pontiac bonney se which has the 4T60E trans. i didnt get a reply , maybe posted in the wrong forum?anyways i heard it will work if i use the brain from the olds and put into the bonney, and i heard it would not work ,so im trying to get some real answers here. any advice on my postings and my problem would be appreciated, TY all for your time ,and looking forward to good stuff here in GM forums ! TY GM lover David

Hey David! I'm just down the road from you (relatively speaking). Your employer is practically in my backyard.
With GM, almost anything is possible with enough time, money, and research. You might be able to get someone with HP Tuners (its a OBD2 software editing program that flashes a new program on your ECM) to work some programming magick. Though, if I remember right, 97 was a problematic year to program for H body cars for some reason.
Welcome to the site, and maybe I'll see you on the road!
