Default Hello all! Just got a classic Bonne to restore.

Hello to all! I just found this club and was so happy, since I am just about to restore one of these great automobiles. My neighbor had a '67 Bonneville convertible in her back garage for years. She died in January and I mentioned to her sister that I liked the car. On Monday, her husband came over and told me that I could have it! So far, no keys have been found, but I've been working on getting the car jacked up and moved from the back corner, where I have no idea how it parked there. The floor is gravel and there is some rot, but overall the vehicle is really good shape. No major holes in the body and the top and interior are in excellent condition. The frame has a few bad spots, but nothing that couldn't be repaired. I'm just looking for some support and suggestions from other members before I get this major project underway. I will need to find out where parts are available and would love to chat with anybody who has restored one of these classics. Look forward to talking with others in the group!

John

Welcome to the club. Most of us have newer Bonnevilles, but we do have a group of older Bonne owners.

Hope to see some pics of your car, soon. I love the 60'* Bonnes!

Welcome to BC!

As said, there is much more focus here on the newer Bonnevilles, love some of the older models and we welcome all new members.

I did a little searching for you:

site with some replacement parts

In addition, if you weren't already aware, Hemmings Motor News is always a good source for restoration parts etc.

You might want to pick up an issue of Pontiac Enthusiast since I believe they have adds for focused publications that might be helpful.

Your local POCI (Pontiac-Oakland club) can be a great source of information and parts as well.

Thanks for the welcome Echo and Lash. I was dumbfounded when this vehicle was given to me, but look forward to getting it finished and on the road. I also like the newer Bonnes, especially the supercharged models. I think if they had wings they would fly! My other neighbor has an SSEi parked in the yard. His wife hit a deer, messed up the front end, and blew the airbags. I thought about talking to him about purchasing the car, but too many vehicles and other projects right now. I'd like to do a SSEi power train in a fasback Fiero. (I have one of those too, plus there is two more in the lady'* garage next to mine!) I guess you could say I live in a Pontiac neighborhood. There are at least three or four Bonne'* along my street.
Lash, thanks for the links. I agree, Hemmings is a great place to start. I have also found excellent parts sources on E-Bay.
I'll get pictures up soon!
