Default Hello

I've been a lurker for awhile, but have made a few posts here and there, most recently you all helped me out with determining my motor had spun a bearing and seized.

Good news is the new engine gets in town tomorrow, scheduled for install over the weekend.

I bought the car (94 SSE) about 7 months ago for a few hundred dollars (originally was going to be more, but the original owner cut me some (a great deal of) slack when I had to make some repairs ..... and though it needs some interior work, I gotta say I really like this car. Steering is tight, handles well, has all the gizmos (HUD, all the power seat buttons, moonroof, etc). Very comfortable ride. And the red illuminated dash. Don't know why, but that'* one of my favorite things.

I'd recently spent around $1200 - $1500 on new tires, fuel pump, some other things.... it really wasn't much of a decision at all as to wether or not to put a motor in.... I'm around $3000 total into the car now (after the new motor); I just don't think it'* likely to find a car I trust for anywhere less than $10K. Not that it can't be done, some guys I know spend $500 and get a sweet ride.... but my luck just doesn't work that way. This car though... I trust, did before the motor went out as well. After this weekend I won't have any mechanical concerns about the car at all, although I will say I'll be paying a lot closer attention to anything the engine is trying to tell me.

Anyway I've been browsing the forums, gotta say it'* pretty sweet what you all did for Chad, and I'm impressed with the helpfulness/responsiveness of all the members and administrators here.

So, barring me totalling the car somewhere (hopefully not likely, I'm 42 and have yet to have an accident that I was at fault in)...... I'll be around here for a while to pester with questions and offer my meager help when I think it'* appropriate - I intend to slowly restore the few areas of the car that need work as I can afford it.

Well that'* about it, just wanted to say hi and also thanks again for all the help.

- Matt

Welcome Matt... good to have you aboard.

One day you think you can only offer "meager" advice and the next day you do a motor. That translates to a pile of knowledge to someone that hasn't changed the motor.
