Default Bought a 1999 Bonneville yesterday

Decided to sign up since I bought a 1999 Bonneville SE yesterday. The car is in great shape with 84,000 miles on it. We paid $4000 for it which I am really happy with since the car looks and drives like new. The only problem it has is a squeak in the rear suspension.

Anyhow the car is for my wife and our two daughters age 3 and 5. My girls already climbed over every inch of the interior. We bought it to replace our 2003 Odyssey which we are selling to pay off some home equity debt. I think the Bonneville should work out great for the next 4 years. Time will tell.

Myself, I am a parts manager for a Hyundai dealer. I have been a parts manager for about 12yrs now. Before Hyundai I was with Saturn and then a Buick/GMC/Hyundai store.

Welcome to the club! I'm a little parshal to the 99s .

Sounds like you got a great price. We need pics!

Beware of the upper intake manifold and lower intake gaskets on the Series II 3800. I had to replace mine at 77,000. There'* tons of information on the failures on this board. Check the TechInfo and info in the 92-99 sections.

Welcome...

The price was almost to good to be true. I was just taking my wife to see if she would be ok with a Bonneville to replace her Odyssey. The car was so good we decided to by it that night. She really is not sacrificing that much by going to the Bonneville. In some ways she actually gets more with all the convenience items the Bonneville has. Plus she can still seat 6 in a pinch.

Welcome. $4000 with 84,000 miles -that'* outright theft. I thought I'd gotten a deal in December, 03 when I bought my old 1999 SSEi with 142.000 miles for $5500.
What is the temp there in Connecticut? If it is below freezing the squeak might be the back window seal -I noticed in all 4 of the Bonneville'* (1992, 1994, 1998, and 1999) when it gets down below freezing the rear window seal will make a squeaking sound at almost every crack in the road -until the interior temp has been warmed up and warms the seal up.
Otherwise if it isn't that you might want to check the rear sway bar end-links. Mine were shot in my 1998 SSE when I bought it -I replaced them with standard Moog end-links from Auto Value ($13) and had them replaced in under 1/2 hr. They are a fairly common problem. If you want to spend an extra $4-7 get some Energy Suspension End-links -you'll not regret getting them.

Welcome to the club!
Yeah, you definitely wanna watch that upper intake. Did you have the car inspected before you bought it?
And the Bonnie might not be a mommy-van, but it'* definitely a good car if you have kids. HUGE back seat!
Anyway, $4k is a steal far a '99. Good find!
Repeat: WELCOME!!
