Bonneville 1993 owner, trying to maintain ailing car
I own a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville. Purchased when I was 16 for $3,000, it'* seen 100,000 miles of my driving (and 115,000 before me), a few major repairs (engine replacement, transmission rebuild, head gasket replacement), lots of adventures, and is probably near the end of its useful days.
I have mostly given up on it and am refraining from future repairs, in order to save money toward a new car. In the meantime, I will drive the car until it kicks the bucket for good. I am doing my best to keep it safe and to make it last as long as possible by self-maintenance.
I hope these forum will be a great help as I learn more about my car.

HEAD GASKETS?
There'* one you don't hear every day. I have yet to see a CONFIRMED failure to this day. I'd like to hear the story behind that one when you have the time.
Welcome to the Forum. We'll help you keep it on the road long past it'* normal life.

215,000 miles? I'd say it'* already well past it'* normal lifespan. You're probably to the point where the door hinges are wearing out.... I put 203,000 on a '79 Pontiac Safari wagon with a 301 V8... Closest I've ever gotten. Usually my kids wreck my cars before I can get to 200,000!
