Default 2001 ssei

Just picked up a 2001 SSEI with 106,000 miles on it. Pretty decent shape, some dings and scratches and some rust under the gas opening on the fender and need to adjust the sunroof some as well as some valve cover gaskets, and I think the intermediate steering shaft, but other than that, she should be a pretty good rig I hope.

Yeah will get some up this weekend. Want to wash it up, kinda dirty right now. It is black pretty neglected from the detailing side of things, so want to try to clean it up some.

Give it a good wash, claybar it, then a good polish and a wax. Do you have a polisher, or you stuck doing it by hand?

I have an older 10" random orbit buffer, probably going to get a newer one this weekend and pickup a mothers three step system for now and see how much I can get out with that. There are some that are going to need to be painted to cover up and a few dents that need to be cleaned up here soon also.

If you can get a porter cable polisher. Found mine on Ebay for under $100, well worth the price. As for polish I use Meguiers #80 then I use Gold class for wax, then finish off with meguiers #7

Welcome to the Club JC and like Danthurs, I swear by Meguiers. Good stuff. Some here like the ease of the new polymer "shines". Nothing beats an old fashion wax and buff.

I will have to check out the meguires stuff. Used mothers in the past with pretty good luck, but been several years since I did that much work on a vehicle. Black just looks so hot when properly detailed. this one needs allot of exterior work, thinking a wetsand is probably going to be in order, but going to see what I can get done with the polish and wax first before I take the next leap.

I need to get the rust under the gas door on the fender fixed first. It is just bubbling right now, so might as well get that taken care of and then concentrate on the rest.
