ok started the truck today first try it would not start, on second try it started but acted like it was choked out had to pump gas pedal to keep it running for a few seconds .

That'* odd. I have a 2000 Yukon XL with the 5.3L engine (LS1) and there is no distributor.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me, very common. When it doesn't start have someone crank it and give the fuel tank a couple swats with a hammer and see if it kicks on.

Landpilot, the LS engines do not have a distributor. There'* 8 individual coils on those engines.
