This has been a nightmare for me. I thought I could have done this on my own but it'* been a very excruciating experience. I need to get this car up and running asap, and so far I have failed three times to replace the rear main seal and the plate that comes with it. I don't have the money atp to have someone take it and fix it. I can only sell it for scrap if I am not able to finish this soon.
This is my third attempt and I managed to get my hands on the guide pins that are referenced in this manual that I found. The issue I have been having so far is that the darn seal won't go over the lip and it ends up causing a mess that I have to clean up all over again because of the sealant. With the pins now in use... does anyone have any advice for this process? I know that you can't grease this because this is teflon but idk what I am going to do if this stupid seal doesn't go on even with these pins that I bought. I also do THOROUGHLY clean the surface that the seal is meant to wrap around with berryman'* b12 and brake cleaner. I have one last new seal and housing left over which I will be using instead of the old one housing. I know that this was a mistake on my part but I gotta at least try one more time before all else fails. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Crazily enough, taking out my transmission and install a new clutch pack in the meantime was far easier somehow.
No. It keeps just bending against it. I'm guessing that these pins are meant to prevent that from happening but I was hoping to see if someone has experience with these seals before I proceed one last time because I was very precise beforehand which may not be enough without the pins but I now have enough cause for concern.
