oil cooler lines
 

I am replacing the oil cooler lines on my 1992 Chevy truck. I bought new ones from Chevy dealership and they were wrong, twice. Finally after some research the parts found a service bulletin on how to reroute oil cooler lines. GM deletes them after 10 yrs so he couldn't find it, but the bulletin # is EB01-291 I can't find it anywhere does anybody have any suggestions on where to look. thanks

alot of guys have issues with leaks and stuff and go and get the filter adapter off a non cooler truck and "delete" it

But keep in mind if your pull a loaded trailer alot, it would be a good idea to fix the lines. Helps keep the engine cooler.

The oil cooler lines come off the side of the block, not off of oil filter housing. So no need to change that. And I already bought the lines I just wanted to see bulletin to make sure these new lines were the right ones since they have different bends. can still trade them in for right ones of they're not all greasy and out of packaging They seem to be to short when compared to old lines. Thanks for ideas if any more please post

I have all those installed in my truck. The filter adapter gives you the ability to remote install a BIGGER oil filter and with the cooler inline, it extends the life of your oil.

you would have to live in one of the southern most states and be hauling over 6k for it to matter. i had a tbi 350 with no oil cooler, factory f44 heavy duty. i have a 6500lb camper i towed all the time, got in in fredricksburg, ma and towed it home on a 90deg day through all the hills of pa rt 15 and didnt have to stop once, the temp gauge moved off 200 only once on a hill i was in second and third for about 3 or 4 miles

I sort of remember the updated cooler lines GM came out with. I know I installed a ton of them on the 4.3 and 5.7 engines. I don't have the bulletin your looking for but if I remember correctly you need to remove the upper fan shroud and snake the lines around the steering box. If i remember correctly they just added more hard line and less rubber hose to reduce the potential for leaking. I'm sure once you get in there the lines will be pretty self explanatory.

Here is how they are routed on my 91 and I remember using GM lines when I replaced them back in 07 or so.
