fuel pressure key on engine off 45 psi.
engine running 55 psi.
I did notice that both instances when I turned the key off the pressure would drop fast. like down to zero in 3 or 4 seconds. Is that normal?

That'* low, and it shouldn't drop that quickly.

It might be a bad fuel pressure regulator. I'd replace that, then if the problem persists I'd put a fuel pump in it.

thanks, I'll see about getting a fuel pressure regulator.
The fuel pump is brand new and if that is bad I will be pissed because I bought it 6 months ago so they won't warranty it. RockAuto.

put a new pressure regulator on. Still dies. now on almost every stop.
you know how when you're slowing down and get under 15mph and the rpm'* slowly drop, well when I get under 10mph the rpm'* drop kinda fast, down to about 400 rpm, the engine starts to stall, then the rpm'* will jump up to about 700, sit there for about a second or two then the engine just shuts off.
when this happens it starts right back up, and it won't die again until the next stop.
I don't know if this is important but the schrader valve to check the fuel pressure is on the frame rail right next to the gas tank, not up on the fuel rail. FSM says pressure should be 45 to 55 psi. so I think mine'* ok.
check engine light went out again 2 days ago, (wed).

I still wonder what the fuel pressure is doing during this event.

I do to. do you know of any way to check that?
I'd hate to have to drop the fuel tank to put another fuel pump in it and still have the same problem.
I think it'* the pump or the throttle body. Checked or replaced everything else I can think of.
and I'm leaning towards it being the pump too.

Fuel pressure? There'* a shader valve on the fuel rail. Easy to get to.

If it were PCM or electrical, I'd expect it to quit, not take 4-5 seconds to quit. I'd also expect it would do this in other parts of the drive cycle. If it failed immediately as you come to a stop I'd suspect the transmission possibly not disengaging the TCC. With these symptoms I suspect the fuel pump is failing on its own.

What does the oil pressure show as it is failing and while it it working?

my schrader valve is underneath. It'* on the fuel line by the evap canister. so I can't check while I'm driving it.
when it acts up the oil pressure is normal, usually 40psi. and doesn't drop until the engine shuts off.
The TCC is disengaging when it'* supposed to. I checked that with my scan tool.
I did notice that while driving, my short term fuel trim varies between -5% and +5% give or take. but when I come to a stop it drops to -10 or -15%. one time it dropped to -20% then died. I'm not sure what this means.
I have ordered a new throttle body. I can't wait anymore. If that'* not it, then fuel pump.
It'* driving me crazy. but this is how I learn.
I'll keep you posted.
