Question changing the brake shoes on my 1989 gmc r3500 for the first time

ive been reading online and most people say to put the bigger shoe on the back but when i removed my drum i noticed that the smaller one was on the back.so i was wondering should i reverse them or install the exactly like the old ones are?

Install exactly like the old ones. When I do a brake job on a car I have never worked on before I take a picture of how things look before I remove anything so I can make sure it looks the same when I am done.

Perhaps the big shoe is on the rear on one side, and on the front on the other, which might be the source of the confusion. In any case, put it back like you found it.
